DevDefenders

I have been gaming for as long as I can remember, and I recently found out how the people who make those games I love are treated. I wanted to inform other gamers how game developers are being used and disrespected. One solution I found to help developers get what they deserve is by forming a union for game developers.

They need to be protected, like any other artist. Forming a union for those in the video game development industry is one solution to protect developers from crunch, abuse, and burnout that they are forced into by big name companies. The only way it is possible for developers to get the respect they deserve is for gamers to rise up and support our developers. Gamers can help by educating themselves and understanding the world of a developer. These companies are crushing the developer’s creative love for the games. By agreeing to impossible deadlines and perfection, which is what the customers want, the developers are paying a heavy price for it emotionally and physically. This means longer release dates and possibly more expensive. This will be the price we should all gladly pay for well made and more exciting games.

To inform gamers on this important issue, I built a website. It is a hub of all information on how to form unions and why some developers are advocating it. I also decided to include downloads like wallpapers and gamer pics/avatars on my website so gamers can inform other gamers about the issues revolving around the developer world.
